Gary's information

Gary Smith is the chairman of Wight Cardiac Rehab and has previously held the office of chairman of the IW Heart Care Club on two occasions totalling 12 years, so has a clear vision of the ethos of the organisation and a wealth of experience in organising events and activities. He set up and runs the WCR website.

 

Although he has plans to retire he brings the expertise of being a business owner for 44 years selling office equipment and supplies. 

 

Probably Gary’s greatest gift to the charity is his enthusiasm for and commitment to anything he is involved with. He played a major role in organising the Island games when they were held on the Isle of Wight in 1993 and 2011. In his spare time he enjoys repairing typewriters and has quite a collection!

 

Gary says ‘I feel really strongly that the work the Charity does can help our members in recovering from their cardiac event. It is great to see their progress after a short time of joining the exercise classes, not just the fitness side but the social side as well.’
